AFL Power Poll - Week 7
(CURRENT) (TEAM) (W/L RECORD) (LAST WEEKS RANK) 1) Austin Wranglers (5-1) (LW: 3) By far the most impressive team through the first six weeks of action after playing in a different city for every game, and compiling a remarkable 4-1 mark on their 5-game road trip. They now get the benefit of some home cooking starting first with NY. 2) Colorado Crush (5-1) (LW: 2) It was far from impressive, but the defending champs got the job done vs. the Rampage and increased its lead in the division by one full game. Up next is a huge road date in Chicago with a possible season sweep on the line. 3) Nashville Kats (4-2) (LW: 1) Last weeks number one squad dropped a shocker in the desert to the Rattlers, and got poor QB play out of Clint Stoerner once again. This is a cause for concern, but it was the first game of the year without WR/LB Cory Fleming and the Kats WR corps found it much tougher to get open. Up next is a date with the Blaze in the ?DC?. 4) Dallas Desperados (5-1) (LW: 7) Dallas put together its most dominating effort of the season, and won its second straight over the Chicago Rush. The offense was combustible; the defense ferocious, and the mental mistakes were kept in check. All the ingredients necessary for an ArenaBowl recipe. Up next is a trip to Tampa vs. Stafford and Co. 5) Orlando Predators (4-2) (LW: 10) I sound like a broken record with this club, but, six weeks have now flown by and I still don?t get this team. An OT victory in Tampa followed up by an absolute stinker in NY only to blow the doors off the Avengers this past weekend. Maybe this squad is really that good and I just have to accept it. Enjoy your trip out west vs. the Rattlers. 6) Tampa Bay Storm (4-2) (LW: 9) What QB Shane Stafford is doing this year is really starting to turn into something special as he?s the field general for the top ranked offense in the league. The unit will be put to the test this week vs. another potent scoring team otherwise known as the Desperados. 7) Georgia Force (3-3) (LW: 4) The Force dropped a tough one at home this past weekend vs. a Wranglers club that just wanted it more. They played a solid first half of the game, but the offense was stifled for most of the second stanza. A 2-2 mark at home to start the year is not what this franchise expected to this point, so look for HC Plank to have his men ready for their two-game road trip that starts in Columbus. 8) Philadelphia Soul (3-3) (LW: 5) Are there such things as Mulligan?s in this league? Of course not, but if there were, the Soul would be more than happy to take one after last weekends effort in Sin City. I?m not sure what team that was that roamed the wet track of the Thomas and Mack, but it?s not the Soul squad that I had pegged as a dark horse for the ArenaBowl title. The second leg of their four game road trip finds them in KC, and they better find their ?A? game or else they?ll be under .500 heading into Week 8. 9) Chicago Rush (3-3) (LW: 6) It wasn?t that big a shocker that Chicago lost its home game to the visiting Desperados, but the manner in which they were defeated was eye opening to say the least. They were sloppy in every facet of the game, and suffered some major injuries as an added insult. Their season could be on the line over the next two weeks as they get Colorado Friday night, and then have to travel to Nashville to take on the revenge minded Kats. 10) Columbus Destroyers (3-3) (LW: 11) It looks as if the ballet lessons really paid off. Since dawning the leotards and little booties, the Destroyers boast a 2-0 mark and picked up their first road win of the year. This Friday Nights game against Georgia has been deemed ?Dynamite night? as Napoleon?s Uncle Rico will be around signing autographs before the game. Heck, they might need him to suit up and play some defense after losing a couple bodies last Friday night. And the rest?. 11) New York Dragons (3-3) (LW: 8)
12) San Jose Sabercats (2-4) (LW: 14)
13) Las Vegas Gladiators (2-4) (LW: 16)
14) Grand Rapids Rampage (2-4) (LW: 13)
15) Arizona Rattlers (2-4) (LW: 18)
16) Utah Blaze (2-4) (LW: 12)
17) Kansas City Brigade (1-5) (LW: 17)
18) Los Angeles Avengers (1-5) (LW: 15) Mike Rose is a documented member of the Professional Handicappers League.
